Network Thermostat Releases NT-485 Modbus Translator

Grapevine, TX, January 24, 2022 – Network Thermostat™, a leading provider of connected thermostat solutions for facility energy management and building automation (small businesses, K-12 education, hospitality, multi-family, government, retail and restaurant chains, commercial buildings, and light industrial), announced today it has released the NT-485 Modbus translator.

As the world of connected devices continues to grow and become more a ‘standard’ rather than a ‘wish’, commercial HVAC applications are being required to become more ‘connected’. Standard equipment such as roof-top units and package systems have always been the easiest to connect and control. The challenge has been, “what do we do with larger, VAV or VVT systems?” They require communication, not just with the user but with a variety of apparatus between the user and climate comfort and control.

The NT-485 is a simple to install Modbus translator for connecting NetX X-Series thermostats to any Modbus system, regardless of the manufacturer. The translator connects via the 3 wire NetX RSBus remote sensor network and is compatible with any NetX X Series thermostat.

The NT-485 address is configurable from the front panel of the thermostat. The unit can act as a bridge between the X-Series thermostats and any system using Modbus, including VAV/VVT controllers, BAS systems, and Industrial Automation systems. This allows the user to continue to enjoy the near-effortless management of their facilities while simultaneously allowing seamless integration with their large and complicated commercial controls systems.

NT-485 is another example of the way Network Thermostat continues to be the leader in HVAC controls for mid-size commercial, industrial, public sector, and multi-family applications...
