Connect your Net/X™ thermostats wirelessly to the network
from hundreds and hundreds of feet away. These new modules
are extremely valuable options that delivers flexibility,
and reduces installation and set-up time. Our StrongMesh™ technology complies with the IEEE standard 802.15.4, but unlike other mesh networks based on the standard, the Net/X™ solution delivers very powerful radios in each module.
Large or small, new
construction, expansion or retrofit, our mesh-network
wireless options make installation a snap. Our innovative
solution takes energy savings and efficiency to a new
level. Our groundbreaking technology allows each Net/X™
wireless module to function as a device communications
gateway and simultaneously as a repeater for the entire
network, ensuring reliable transmission with ranges never
before seen with wireless systems.
StrongMesh™ was developed and testing in a heavy 'WiFi' environment and peacefully coexists with the IEEE standard 802.11 (WiFi). Rest assured that StrongMesh™ doesn't interfere with WiFi and WiFi doesn't interfere with StrongMesh™. See below for just how easy it is to use.
1) Install the Wireless Coordinator
You can place the Wireless Coordinator Module (WCM-2)
anywhere in the facility within 1,000 feet of the Network
Controller. This module interfaces the wireless thermostats
to the entire network. Each WCM-2 can coordinate up to 32
Net/X wireless thermostat modules, and you can have multiple wireless coordinators for each Network
Controller. The sophistication of the electronics allows
hundreds of thermostats to be controlled on the same site
without interfering with each other or with other wireless
systems.
2) Install the Wireless Backplate Modules
Each Wireless Backplate Module (WBM-1) connects a Net/X™
thermostat to the WCM-2. Simply install the backplate on
the wall, connect the thermostat wires, push the link button
to sync communications with the coordinator, and the
installation is done! Up to 32 wireless thermostats can be
used with each Network Controller.

The WCM-2 Wireless
Coordinator Module (2nd generation, replacing the WCM-1) connects directly to any of the
Net/X Network Controllers using the XBUS. Each WCM-2
coordinates communications with up to thirty-two
(32) WBM-1 wireless backplate modules. For extremely
long distances or for multiple buildings on the same
site, up to four (4) WCM-2’s can be connected up to
1,000’ away with CAT5 cable, all connected to a
single Net/X Network Controller, allowing for
complete flexibility. (Note: The total number of
Net/X thermostats on a Net/X Network Controller
remains either 16 or 32, dependent on the controller
used). The technology adheres to
the IEEE standard 802.15.4 for wireless mesh
networks, allowing it to peacefully coexist with WiFi (802.11x) networks in any home or office. The
WCM-2 has a line-of-site range of over 3,000 feet to
a WBM-1 thermostat module, making the most
demanding 'real world' installations easy to
install.

The WBM-1 and
WBM-1a Wireless Backplate Modules are designed to
replace the passive backplates of
Net/X thermostats. Based on state-of-the-art
wireless mesh technology, the backplates work
seamlessly with the WCM-1 Wireless Coordinator
Module. The integrated
RF transceiver offers unmatched performance in a
2.4GHz IEEE 802.15.4 module. With a tested outdoor
line of site range of 1000 feet from thermostat to
thermostat, the WBM-1 series supplies the power and
reliability needed for practically any building. In
addition, each thermostat's RF transceiver acts as a
repeater, allowing networks of virtually any size
and range.
